My goal is to complete all quests in game. It's quite hard, but I enjoy a hard challange. When I write this (Feb 06), 2150 has been completed, and I am number 2 on the list for Most Quests Completed - Worldwide Top 100. So it seems I am not doing too bad, but there is still much work to be done. There are still hundreds of quests left that I can start, but there are also over 400 that I can never start due to class, level and faction alignement. It's nice to have a long term goal when playing a game like EQ. Something to fall back on when other plans dont work out. There is always the old journal with it's unsolved quests, begging for attention.
I am a woodelf assassin on the Guk server. Here is a Character Profile for Eiwyn. She has been with me since 1995, always named Eiwyn, almost always an elf. She has lived in most of the larger mmorpgs, some for just a short period, some for years, most notably Ultima Online and EverQuest Live (EQ1). She spent 3 months in EQ2 beta, and moved to EQ2 on release day. I played with disabled exp bar from level 1 to 43 and from 44 to 54. All exp came from quest completions. I did that to be able to stay longer in zones before mobs turned grey and stopped dropping quest starters in chests. I wanted to get as many quests completed as possible while I could. Later on when mentoring was added, this tactic became somewhat moot. At level 43 it was too hard to find enough quests to gain levels on, so I was forced to enable the exp bar from time to time, and gain exp from killing mobs. I have killed so many exp giving mobs that I could probably have been 60 twice over. But levels in themselfs are not what makes the game fun to me. Levels are just another variable.
